The Brazilian legal system prohibits the importation of used and retreaded/remolded tires. The only exception to such prohibition is imposed by the decision of the MERCOSUL ad hoc arbitral tribunal that allows the importation of retreaded/remolded tires among its member states and is binding on the Brazilian state:
