Foreign arbitration award (France) that "in order to be ratified and produce effects in Brazil, must be authenticated by a Brazilian consul, pursuant to Article 216-C of the Internal Rules" of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The Agreement on Cooperation in Civil Matters between Brazil and France (Decree No. 3.598/2000) provides for the waiver of authentication of public documents, and would only apply to a private document if the signatures affixed thereto were acknowledged by a notary or equivalent French authority:
